In the heart of the Puy-de-Dôme, discover and explore the many hiking and cycling trails and enjoy the surrounding countryside. A breath of fresh air, far from the hustle and bustle of the city…

City of Volvic

In addition to its world-famous mineral water, the town of Volvic, in the heart of the Puy-de-Dôme department, is home to a precious geological heritage shaped by volcanic eruptions. Perched at an altitude of 500m, this town of character is part of the Chaîne des puys (a UNESCO World Heritage site). Many monuments will be part of the route: Fontaine aux Lions, St-Priest church, Château de Bosredon where volcanic stone shapes statues and buildings.

Grotte de la Pierre de Volvic

A must-see if you’re walking around Volvic, this immersive tour will introduce you to the daily life of the old quarrymen and plunge you into the fascinating geology that built the region. An ideal outing for the whole family, with a fun dimension that will appeal to the youngest visitors.

Vulcania

At this amusement and entertainment park on the theme of volcanoes and the Earth, the whole family can have fun discovering the secrets of volcanism and natural phenomena for a fun, scientific adventure. The park Vulcania is just 20 minutes from the Volvic campsite, in the heart of the Puy-de-Dôme.

The Volcanoes of Auvergne

At the heart of the Auvergne volcanoes, the Puy de Dôme GRAND SITE DE FRANCE is a protected and developed tourist site. 80 volcanoes in the Chaîne des Puys form a unique landscape, with numerous hiking trails.
The Chaîne des Puys and the Limagne fault have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 2018.

Crossing the Puy-de-Dôme on foot or by bike

Nature lovers can’t help but marvel at the many landscapes that make up the Chaîne des puys, the symbol of Auvergne’s many resources. There are thousands of hiking trails in the area, accessible to all abilities. Between lakes and volcanoes, stroll to your heart’s content and take the time to visit the typical villages, at altitude or at the foot of the valleys. For the more sporty among you, no fewer than 9 of the region’s most emblematic mountain passes await you.
Among the many footpaths, the GR441 (Grands Randonnées) offers 110 kilometres of walks across the Chaîne des Puys.
